Sensory Integration Therapy
Service Description
SIT is a therapeutic approach developed by Occupational Therapist A. Jean Ayres in the 1970’s. SIT helps children who have poor integration of sensory information to process sensory information more efficiently to produce more coordinated and accurate movements. SIT is suitable for children who have balance difficulties, dyspraxia, poor visual processing skills, poor visual-motor integration, reduced body awareness and tactile processing difficulties. As part of SIT, our OT offers comprehensive and standardised assessment tools that help identify a child’s specific strengths and difficulties and identify which sensory systems are poorly organised and impacting most gross and fine motor functioning.
